1st June 1994: Took car to Pat Curran Auto Repairs, Merstham, Surrey for various welding work to bulkhead, two outriggers, door hinge plate, exhaust manifold, also saw and paid for reconditioned alloy wheels.
8th June 1994: 193,090, 84,154, 5,038, Home.
11th June 1994: Bled brakes, one seized bleed nipple to LH rear, so air remained in system. Painted bulkhead on the outside where repaired, cleaned and polished car, repaired handbrake, and this coming week painted inside of bulkhead and refitted trim etc.
193,161, 84,225, 5,109.
17th June 1994: Fitted reconditioned Cosmic Alloy wheels and two tyres to car at Pat Curran's workshop.
18th June 1994: 193,392, 84,456, 5,340, Went to Goodwood Festival of Speed, Sussex, today. Fabulous.
19th June 1994: Fitted two NEW bleed nipples on the rear brakes, and bled system thoroughly, washed and polished car - n.b. Nasty little low-life scum is using indelible marker pen on sides of cars in my street - small mark found on rear wing, and polished out. Oiled front trunnions, stopped rattle on air filter again, and stuck down leaking alloy rocker cover. Discovered leak on RH front wheel, the tyre is down from 22psi on Friday to 13 psi tonight. Used footpump to pump up to 33 psi tonight at 10.15pm. n.b. Tonight, Stefan Vandendijk told me on phone from Belgium that Claude Buntinx has made Moss Microwave alarm detector function - must fit it asap!
20th June 1994: Tyre pressure on RH front tyre down again to 26 psi, having lost 7 psi in 20 hours. Steve Phillips suggested having silicon sealing band fitted inside wheel rim, whereas Curran suggested milk inside the tyre, or tubes on both front wheels.
So, tomorrow night try milk suggestion, because it is cheap, and as usual, I'm broke!
21st June 1994: Pressure now down to 19 psi, so jacked up RH front of car, let all air out of tyre, put milk into tyre rim, pumped up to 32 psi, and drove car around for about one mile - hope it works! - check pressure once again tomorrow morning, as I need car for work.
22nd June 1994: Tomorrow night, collect two tubes and my four remaining alloy wheels, (of 6), from Curran at Merstham.
193,448, 84,512, 5,396.
24th June 1994: Took front alloy wheels off this evening ready for Mitcham Tyre Mart at 9am tomorrow morning, temperature was 28.75 degrees Celsius. Temporarily fitted old Dunlop 5.5" steel wheels to front of car.
25th June 1994: Took wheels to Mitcham Tyre Mart and tubes turned out to be wrong size/profile - thanks to Pat Curran.
Went home and changed front brake pads for best set of Ferodo DS11's that I could find in my spares.
At the tyre shop, they found a leak from a porosity hole in my RH front alloy wheel. Went home again and successfully repaired hole in Alloy wheel with J.B. weld epoxy resin at 4pm.
26th June 1994: 7.30am, pumped up tyre as epoxy now cured for 15.5 hours, and fitted wheel to car, no apparent further leaks, 23 psi this morning and 23 psi this afternoon, 5pm.
To be totally safe, I should like to use the epoxy repair inside the wheel as well as outside! This evening, I painted the repair with black engine lacquer, so it is almost invisible.
n.b. I noticed some 'pinking' under load on the motorway, possibly Q8 petrol, possibly tappets out of adjustment - so remember to readjust tappets asap, and change fuel - next Saturday.
193,523, 84,587, 5,471, 10.30pm, checked tyre pressure again, 21 psi this time.
27th June 1994: Tyre pressure 9am down to 19 psi.
Check again tomorrow, and consider silicon seal tyre weld.
28th June 1994: Changed 'cold' spark plugs as black and oily, for 'hot' plugs - it started better immediately!
29th June 1994: 193,540, 84,604, 5,488, Went to work by car AGAIN today, 20 minutes going in, and 40 minutes coming home.
30th June 1994: 193,545, 84,609, 5,493.
