After a discussion with a local mechanic, we found that the 1975 wiring diagram matched my sept.1973 car, with the exeption of an overdrive module(mine don't have one).
The smith's module, I found this wonder of engineering last night. it connects to the start interlock relay, all the seats,seat belts, the light and seatbelt light

it looks likely like a previous owner tried to by-pass the module be cutting the orange/white and rhe red/white the joining them in a loop.
