Ed M's Journal
The fabricator didn't get the pieces sheared up by the end of the day Friday so I cancelled the welder. Yesterday, with progress halted on the frame for now, I started to take the front end apart. I was alone so I rigged up some rope from the bar joists and tied it to the steel framework to keep it from falling to the ground when the bolts were removed.
Once that was out of the way I noticed that the front crossbar had been hit and repaired also. The bonnet is now sitting nose down and resting on the bar where it bolts to the over rider bracket. One side touches the ground and the other is about 1 1/2" off the ground. The bent tube structural has been welded extensively. My guess is in an attempt to get everything to line up from the repair. I can see hours of fitting and rewelding the tubing to get this cowl to properly line up on the new chassis.
So far I have removed the cowl, grill, over riders, front valence, radiator, horns and the sheet metal side shields, Next on the list is a compression test to determine the condition of the combustion chambers. There didn't appear to be a problem with smoke but the car ran subpar to which I contribute to the carburetor that had been sitting for too long. I'd like to have my game plan for the motor before it comes out,
I am looking into getting two cheap electric winches to rig to the bar joists when it comes time to remove the body from the frame. I figure that I could leave it suspended overhead until I am ready to start working on it. Space is getting pretty tight even with the extra I recently acquired.

Herald in it's new home for the winter. The donor frame is in the background just recently stripped and media blasted.
This is as far as I got. Cut the work short to go to the Syracuse game to witness the upset of the year over FSU.
