I was under the front of my TR8 this morning and I noticed some broken pieces of plastic that looked like some type of shield that was under the radiator bracket. Rimmers does not show this and the OEM calls it an under body panel only for A/C cars. it looks like I may have to make one. Does anybody have a photo or has any one made one?
I also attached a couple of pictures of my A/C hoses at that location. Are they supposed to hang down that far. Seems they would inter fer with that under panel.

And those don't look like any of the AC hoses I have ever run across on a TR8. I'm guessing those are remakes. Here are some of the original hoses. Just so happen to have taken and sent this photo over the weekend to a board member. The hose part is a heavy braided plastic and the metal tubes are much longer that what you have.

When I first saw these photos on my phone I thought they were the top hoses. But, when looking on my Desk Top I saw the differences.
As I am still trying to decide whether to keep the A/C in the car, this hose difference just adds to the remove it column.

When I looked at the drawing in the OEM the pate looked flat. This looks like a second air scoop to bring air between the radiator and the A/C condenser. I can't copy that diagram but the location is 76.10.50

The condenser and radiator are so close that I suspect the scoop feeds both.
When I first got my car, I also noticed the reference to the underbelly pan in the ROM. The consensus was that it was never installed in production. I have thought about trying to fab something, just to see if it would help with keeping all of the crap getting into my engine compartment.

According to the ROM (not the OEM which I wrote before) only the A/C cars were to get that pan. So does #0008 have A/C and #0025 does not? When ever you get a chance could you post a picture and we can see if it is different than Darrell's

This is a photo from that 90-mile car on ebay right now.
This part was very easily damaged and is often missing.
I was shocked to find that my 1981 with 89,000 miles has its air deflector not only in place, but in perfect condition.

#8 had AC. Not sure about AC on #25. I got #25 in enough pieces to build two TR8s a couple of years ago, along with an identical TR7 coupe. Los of things could have changed on that car, and lots more are going to change. I talked to an old buddy of mine last night. We both owned #1033. He says he still has the panel from #1033 in his stash of parts from when he sold that car. I don't remember it being on the car, but that was almost 30 years ago when I owned it briefly. Like most of the TR8s I have owned. I rescued it and got it into good hands. Think that car is in the Virginia / Carolina region of the country now, and has changed hands at least 4 times since I dragged it out of a garage shared with an early Nova North of Boston in 1990 or so. Oddly enough, when I went to pick up that car, there was another TR8 for sale on the same cul-de-sac. Neither guy knew the other guy had a TR8. The other one was a Bordeaux red metalic 81 with a brownish tan convertible top. Car was absolutely immaculate and overpriced. Never saw it again. Always wondered what happened to that car.
about 1 month and 4 days later...

Todd,
The fibreboard panel you found on your ACN Coupe #00008 was standard on all those ACN series cars that had A/C. My Tahiti Blue Coupe ACN01063 also had it. Triumph seems to have dropped it for the later TCN Coupes and all TR8 convertibles (all with A/C fitted). It was an annoying panel anyway, because you always seemed to be removing it to do any work under the car!!! I have a brand-new one (underbelly panel) here that I have attempted to fit up on later A/C and non-A/C TR8's without any real success.

I have the same panel on My '81, but I can't eat off mine. - Pete

The panel on the #8 car is made from aluminum. About the same thickness as a road sign. I just assumed they were all aluminum. That car was wrecked in the nose before I got it. Story was an executive from BL in NJ owned the car. He was heading to Cape Cod when he got in an accident on the highway. Car ended up in a local junkyard where the PO bodyman bought it and fixed it just to flip it. When I bought the car, it had a single bulge hood that was later replaced. Its possible the belly pan was damaged and the guy that put the car back together made one out of aluminum. Mike Perkins says he has one hanging in his garage down in Maryland that came off the #1033 coupe. Never thought to ask him what material it was. Anybody know where 1033 is now? It changed hands several times up here in just a handful of years. I found it up on the North shore of Boston and sold it to Dave Abbott. Then it went to Perkins, then to Jeff Goldsten, and then went down South. Now Abbott and Jeff have silver verts, I have two silver verts, and Mike just bought back his MGBGT... no more TR8s.
I'd be willing to bet Mike would let it go if somebody has to have it. He sent me a text last night saying his MGB is showing up on Monday. That car has been missing for over 20 years. Turns out its only covered 20 miles since Mike sold it and the title is still in his name, but it somehow ended up in Maine.
