Hate to be picky LoL but I think this is actually a Mark 4 which was fitted with a 1500 engine for the USA market.This was the case with
MK4 numbers FM1,FM10001 to FM2800[ model years 1972 to 1974.]

You are correct. But for all intents and
purposes they are still called 1500's.
(I gather that this particular topic is oft
debated amongst the ownership )

Picky again The 1500 was a designated model and,for the US market, started from Vin. No. FM28001 The 72 to 74 models were designated MK4 by the manufacturer even if fitted with a 1500 motor I cant see that there is any thing to debate
