Assistance needed with Stromberg Carb.

1969 Triumph GT6+ (MkII) "Litte Blue"
I recently acquired a 1969 GT6 that has a 2.5 liter motor and Stromberg 175CD carbs, the carbs have two adjustment knobs on the bottom, can anyone tell me what each knob adjusts and a base setting for my car?

You may want to repost this in the Spitfire GT6 forum. This forum is for old Triumphs that don't fit in other categories.

As to the adjuster on the bottom of the Stromberg carb, there isn't any. The slotted brass thing underneath is part of the main jet assembly that pokes through the bottom of the float bowl. There may be an idle air corrector screw on the side of the carb body, but all mixture adjustment is done with a special tool down through the top damper.

Nice, those are the pre-CDSE Strombergs.

The adjusters on the bottom are for adjusting the mixture, via altering the position of the jet. Easier setup than the later emissions-compliant CDSE Strombergs, which adjusted with a tool inserted through the top of the dashpot.

The bottommost hex (with the screwdriver slot in it) is the jet adjustment. Turning it in leans the mixture across the entire range (but is normally adjusted at idle).

The upper hex locks the jet bushing in place and shouldn't be touched unless you want to re-center the jet to the needle.
