In reply to # 949668 by ham204 What is the best combination of tyre on a 5.5" wide 14 inch wheel without modifications to the body? I was thinking 165/60 - is that about right?

You could go as wide as 175 I think with the right offset rim. Do you know if your offset is at least +22mm? Paul Geithner on his website runs a 185/55/14 set up on a 6" wide wheel with a +26 offset, and he has a lowered suspension and he has no problems. I would think 60 would be fine since you don't plan on lowering it.

Dear Spitfied, I see you reason on offset and so I think you're the right to whom I can ask form my doubt:

I would like to put under my spitfire '76 four 175/70/13 on a 5,5" dunlop D1 replica wheels that have an offset ET16 (+16mm).

I've found that in origin the spitfire has an offset of +0.5" (+12.72mm) do you think that an offset of +16mm should be ok?

Thank you for your attention!smileys with beer

Slightly off topic, but where do you even find 14" wheels for the Spitfire now?

Sorry of being off topic but I've searched about wheels and I saw there that the user Spitfied talked about offset!

I found also some pages in which I can simulate different offset but I know that those application have a margin of error, so it's better if someone have tried with offset ET16!
