Hi everyone,

I have a Spitfire MK3 1970, has steel wheels, ordered the 13x5 minilite replicas from JBW with 20 offset. got them today. The lugnuts that came with them won’t turn more than 4 rounds on the stud so the tire shop refused to put them on. The studs are basically too short. Anyone had this issue with any of the minilite replicas? Should I get new studs? Which and where from in that case? Sigh....

Advice appreciated!
Alex

Here is a picture of the original lugnut which fits fine in the stud next to the one that came with the rim.
Thanks
Alex

You can get longer versions of the stock 3/8-24 studs.
Or you can fit larger longer studs (many, many, MANY postings on this subject).
But then you will need a full set of new lugnuts that match them.

Thanks Carter, appreciate it. Did some research, will probably go with the Land Rover ones.
This forum is amazing!

Alex, what do you think of the JBW minilite wheels? I have been looking at them and the prices seemed to be pretty good.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Hi Alex,

I have JBW Minilites on mine but was not happy with the lack of number of threads, so I put the longer M12x1.5 studs on. Check out this web link: http://auskellian.com/paul/links_files/upgrade_spitfire_wheel_studs.html
It may help.

There is another conversation going on about finding longer studs. You should be able to find what you need there.
