We spent some time in the Gunmetal grey camp. We still think it looks good. It's just there are so MANY cars in darker greys these days, that it lost some of it's uniqueness. Who knows, we may fall back into that color. The picture on page 2, post #20 is the picture from the internet that got her thinking that color. Now that she's looking at blue, the stripe from that car is part of her ideas, now.

I'm trying to suggest one of the stock blues, like Royal blue, but she thinks not metallic just looks flat and doesn't show the curves of the car as well.

Most paint shops have a selection of neon colors.

Also, see if they offer the new mirror finish.

And she would be right! I like the pearl more than the metallic, but either way, the curves of the Spit and GT6 come alive with the more modern paint. Fortunately, the value of our cars is not dependant on originality - a good paint job adds the same value if its original, or not. The TR3 Doug posted looks great, but its value took a huge hit. Not so for us.

I just found a shot of a GT6 in Aston Martin green that I like.

She likes green, but this may be too grey green. I kinda' like it !

Here are my favorite modern dark blues. I've been noted for driving through car dealerships each fall to see the new colors. (with no intentions of buying a new car)

She kinda' liked the green on the mirror finish car, just not the uber reflections. She called it 7-Up green.

We were lucky enough to find our 98% restored1980 Spits in a color the previous owner's wife chose...it's a charcoal burgundy that in the sun reflects both colors amazingly!

Wow! Looks like someone sells "Mary Kay" products. LOL!

In reply to # 1504774 by Notti I think it's funny that an owner of a GT6, a very unique car design, is concerned the color won't make it stand out. Nobody in just about any parking lot you go to will have a GT6, so it could be primer grey and stand out.

Pick a color you love and not something no one else is driving or you may end up being asked if you sell Mary K cosmetics.

I've always felt Damson Red was the best color for the GT6.

Yea guys, i feel your pain, i went through that phase last year when i got to the point of the big "C" decision. Every car that drove past us going down the road that caught our eyes we looked at each other and said "hmmm" wonder what that color is called? After owning this car for closing in on 40 years thinking i should keep it the factory color(signal red i think) when i start the restoration ...or as you nailed it(resurrection). Well,Last June after a 13 year frame off restoration the tub still on a modified double wide jet ski trailer,i finally after much soul searching i finally landed on not signal red but 2017 corvett red which is actually called flame red, very close to the red gmc truck i drive..My club members call it "re-sale red.Thats fair enough but im glad i decided on the red as i watched the base coat being sprayed on then the clear coat(3 coats).Yep thats when you finally are at peace with your choice because its to late to go back now!!....This is probably no help at all is it ? smiling smiley Dennis !968 mk1 gt6
