The aluminum front plate came from EBay. The water pump is the newer 5 blade from Roadster Factory and the housing and pulleys came from BPNW!
Front calipers are the Toyota 4 pistons from an 83 pickup. Steering rack from British Parts in Va. since closed

This looks like a car with a real spirit to it - I have a feeling it will turn out just fine!

Very nice Chris and Simon...!

Well, my restoration is coming along fairly well..

To recap, my motor was built up by a club member 15 years ago. We went with 87mm pistons and liners, "D" cam and I rebuilt the stock SU's

It has a lightened flywheel and I did the HVDA transmission conversion. Also did a rack and pinion steering assy.

I have gone from signal red that I painted her back in 83 to the original powder blue..

On first assembly and test run with the motor and tranny in and fuel and battery hookup I had a pretty bad oil leak at the rear main seal. We had to pull the motor/tranny and break it down to get the motor apart and pull the crank bacck out. In went the Mad Marx seal and just today got it back in the car....and running with not a drop in sight..

Very timely...as I was sent these pics from the painter today!

Nice....looks as if our restorations are neck and neck...!

I see on your thermostat housing you have the newer TR4 sensor...are you going with an electronic gauge as well instead of the sensor and capillary tube..?

Here is the latest pic of the chassis back together with the motor and tranny...

we had it this far in early February...and found that the rear main seal leaked once together and running...

It was quite the chore to break everything down...pull the motor and transmission, break apart all of the red loctite bolts, remove the carefully torqued pressure plate and flywheel, as well as remove the crank....ugggh...

And then I installed the MadMarx viton seal.

all went back togehter the past few days and here we are. The cirlced spoto n the concrete is where we had the big leak previously..

She ran for over an hour and NOT ONE DROP..smileys with beer

I am re-building the engine out of a 1954 TR-2. It has been sitting for 30 years, because the owner put the cheapo rear seal in it, and it leaked like a sieve.

I'm going with the same seal you installed. I trust you had the crankshaft machined for this new seal?

Dick
