I am in the process of replacing the transmission bushing and thought while I'm at it I might as well replace the transmission mount.

Ordered one from the Wedge Shop and then read an article in the 2014 TWOA Spring Newsletter about problems with replacement transmission mounts.

Seems the problem described has to do with new mounts not fitting well, Hard rubber and creating problems (noise) ---have there been any updates since this article?

My old mount is worn, but not creating any problems.

Any suggestions, comments would be appreciated, thanks John

I believe the situation is still the same, the reproduction mounts are still quite hard. There are some suggestions about a Volvo mount that can be adapted, but the one I bought seems about as hard as the reproductions. But if your mount is failing, you really don't have a choice.

Charles,

That's normally sage advice, but as with all British car owners we keep fixing things until they're broke.

Hi Vance,
when I was putting my car together that article came out, so I put in the Volvo. Just had to enlarge the mounting holes and add a couple washers for it to fit. Is it better (?), don't know the car was in pieces when I bought it. Thanks, Rob

What is the part number for the Volvo mount?

Ross, John et al,

Believe the Volvo mount is very similar in design and requires only minor changes as mentioned above to install. It is common across a variety of Volvo installations for petrol & diesel with both manual and auto transmission. A good breakers yard may provide or following are some details for new source. Quick check on the 'bay returns price range from $30 - $100 depending on source.

Hi Ross,
here is the site and the part number that I got. I purchase here as it is a genuine Volvo part and not something from India. Thanks, Rob

Just a follow up on this subject

I did order and receive the transmission mount from the Wedge Shop

And it is hard as a rock---will take the old one out and see what shape it in.

One of the mounts tested in the TWOA reference was the Bilstein version, which was reported to be good.

It's hard to find in the US but common in Europe. Here's one place I found over here:

I order the Volvo transmission mount and the rubber is just as hard as the stock one.
