Hi everyone, a friend has an '80 Triumph TR7 Spider, and he is helping, as I am doing the body work, so he can get it painted. He is not a member of this forum (hopefully he will be, as I have given him the info on how to join). He does not remember the dimensions of the gaps around the door and he only has a shim for the bottom hinge on each door. .Again he doesn't remember if there was a shim on the top hinge or not. It has been over 2 years since he took things apart. Can any of you help us with any info on these please.
There is another question he has; On the rear axel, there is a bracket on each side facing towards the rear and he does not know what it is for. Please see pictures. Any information would be appreciated on this item also.
Thank you,
Bob

Looks like they are on backwards.
They should be turned around and the pivot bolt for the lower arm should go thru the holes on both the brackets and the bracket on the axle.

Randy is correct, they are on backward. There should also be a bumper in the hole that you can see in the first picture.

Thank You Randy and Darrell,
After giving this info to Ron, he could see that he had them on backwards and it then made sense to him. He asked me to see if anyone knew where to get the rubber bumper stops. He said he looked at Moss, Victoria British, The Roadster Factory and Rimmer Brothers and he was not able to find them. Any suggestions Please?
Thanks, Bob

I've not seen anyone selling the stock ones. They are very thin. TSI does sell an replacement:
http://www.tsimportedautomotive.com/tr7_tr8.html:
Rear axle stop - helps control rear axle "wind-up". 2 required $2.95 ea #X7493
I'm pretty sure it is an MG part (GEX7493, Moss #444-080):
https://mossmotors.com/mounting-rubber?assoc=19778
With one of the studs removed.

If you’re talking about the top bump stops that mount up to the chassis, I bought mine from Victoria British. Fit perfectly. They are longer than the originals, but don’t think I’m losing much since my TR8 had none.
