how to tell if my TR250 O/D trans is really a TR250?

What number is stamped into the bell housing?

On the left side of the transmission on the boss where the cross shaft goes through will be stamped a number. It should start with CD if its for a 250 and the number should be close to your commission number if its original to the car.

Apparently they do. I'm assuming the 15 H 67 is a date code.

Tim is correct, 15 H 67 is the date, in this case August 15, 1967
