Is the backlight glass seal cut in two pieces...? Where's the chrome trim strip in the seal...? Where are the interior finishing panels...?
Where is the headliner...? The hardtop panel seals look funky. The hardtop panel has the bolts sticking out of it...no captive nuts...!
Where's the soft top...? Where's the soft top frame...?
The paint looks nice...

It’s original...I recognize the trim on the backlight. It’s ancient and not so easily sourced. No the seal should be one piece but it’ll need replacing regardless.

The headliner is there...it’s just black and not very well done

Bottom line it’s silly money and will more than likely sit

The one item that was missing when I purchased my surrey top were the 2 Escutcheon plates (#611668) located on the top rim of the backlight frame where the bolts go thru to hold the top mid roof section on. I couldn't find a source for them so I prototyped one on a 3D printer to make sure it would fit, then made them from steel. They work good, I painted them white because my headliner is white.

fyi, they're available thru revingtonTR in stainless, but not cheap...well 25 a pop. actually i think TRF lists them, but they're like $40

You're right Todd. I did see the ones TRF had but at $25 each, I couldn't see spending $50 plus shipping for a couple pieces of stamped sheet metal. I should have checked to see if Revington had them but still at their price and shipping it would be in the same $50 range. So I spent an afternoon in the work shop and had fun doing them. Instead of having ones made from 20 gage sheet metal, I made mine from 11 gage stock. These little plates were the last two things I needed to finish off my surrey top. It still worked without them but it looks nice and finished with these installed.

I might be persuaded to sell my Surrey top from my TR4A. I have enjoyed it for the last 17 years but have been considering selling the car and may be willing to sell the surrey top separately. It is an original aluminum back piece, original glass, TRF rear glass seals and a TRF surrey top frame and canvas top. The top is painted the same color as my car (green). You can see some pictures at the bottom of TR4A

I would want $3,500 for it plus any shipping costs

Hey...Just curious, do you have the center hardtop panel for the Surrey...? Maybe that is the part that you say is painted green. If it is included, is the headliner in good condition...? Thanks, Ryals

No, when I bought it, it had the aluminum center panel, but it was too rough to restore it, so I sold it off years ago and just used the center "surrey" convertible top when it was needed. 99% of the time, the car is driven with the top off. I will need to go to my neighbor's house to get some pictures as the car is currently stored for the winter, but here is a small one below.

Can anyone provide some details about the mounting of the backllight to the car, I am looking at the area around the stud closest to the B post. How was this stud fitted??

Should be a nut welded to the underside “dog leg” piece. Under the aluminum cap. It has to be removed. If there is no hole it’s probably a replacement piece or you’re working with a TR6

Todd is correct. My TR250 has a threaded hole and there is a stud that you thread into that nut. The stud then comes up through the back light frame and then put a nut and washer on. The hole is under the cap as Todd mentioned.

So, then there is a stud at the B post then no attachment until the stud at the back corner. I am looking at a picture that appears to have a mount point between those two points.

If I recall, there are a total of 9 attachment points. Yes, there is a mount point between the B post and the corner.

On a TR4, the dogleg is "wider" all the way around the bend. beginning w the TR4A, that section narrowed to make room for the bigger convertible top frame. On a 4A/250/5/6, that stud closest to the B-post is removed. I snapped it off, but I think it may be threaded so you may be able to back it out.
