I've almost completed the conversion . Engine, tranny are in. Static timing still has to be set, metering unit timing set, LHD P.I. accelerator pedal mounted, bosch pump along with new aluminum TR5 fuel tank (with PRV and metering unit independent returns, swirl chamber and baffles)
Here are a few pics...enjoy

Shannon,
That is an awesome project. I love the TR250's, but to make it into a TR5 with PI will be a jolt. Keep us posted. You are going have a great spring and summer driving that bad boy.

Thanks very much. She has been full of surprises along the way but I'm looking forward to cranking her up in the spring/ summer.
Cheers

Nice, very nice. Have to keep us posted once you get her on the road.
On a side note, you went against common convention with the black engine bay. I kinda lean the same way as I prefer to have the engine bay black (it's black in my white TR6) rather than the same colour as the car. Anyone else have their engine bay black?

Great job ... I did a PI conversion on my 72 TR6 a few years back but could never find a LHD PI pedal. Where did you find one? It's almost academic since the RATCO TR6 accelerator linkage will do a fine job for both carbs or PI unit.
It looks like you have the metering unit worked on: I'm guessing you upgraded to unleaded seals.

Sweet!
Used parts are negotiable; they look better on your car than in my shop.

A beast living free from the 1968 EPA rules that tamed the rest of us running dual Zenith Stromburgs. I bet its a blast driving a TR-250 rocking the performance motor it was designed for. Well done!

I've passed up some otherwise very good cars due to a blackened engine bay.

The Triumph engine bay came painted body color. GM engine bays are painted black.
Painting a Triumph engine bay rattle can black is the fastest way to depreciate the value of your car.
Generally the quick tip off of an econo non-original re-spray; along with painted door latches.
But, as they say, its your car.

I agree. The black engine bay came like that when I bought the car.
In 3 years I'll be doing a tear down and complete body will be sprayed with correct royal blue color. Unfortunately, work is getting in the way at the moment.

When i do get to my engine bay it will be painted a contrasting light colour to my body colour.
The purist in me says stick to the stock red on red. But the car guy in me says do it in Ford 9N tractor grey engine bay with the red.
My dad had a 9n and it was so cool to drive when your 7.
