I recently bought this light switch to use for my heater fan control in my Herald and I'm wondering if anyone here can give me a pin out diagram for it and tell me if the push function was originally intended for a headlight flash function

I don't believe so. That looks very much like the main headlight switch for my early Stag (located on the side of the pod on the steering column). With the Stag, there is an additional position beyond 'Off' that turns on only half of the side lights, for parking. You depress the knob slightly to be able to turn it to the park position. Your photo even shows the 'Off' position label, with another label behind it and the main positions in front.

The flash function was on another switch, with a stalk.
