The MGB is inspected now too, so I'm good for a year on the roads.
After about 25 miles of driving over the last couple of days the alternator belt started to squeal. I thought the bearings were going and had expected to have to replace it. I pulled it out of the car and found the bearings were fine. The bearings on the water pump seem fine as well, it spins quietly and smoothly.
Before I pulled the alternator out, I noticed the belt was slack and the mounting bolts on the alternator were loose. When I tried to tighten them it was apparent the threads had stripped. The belt squeal, was likely due to the lossening of the whole setup. I replaced all the mounting bolts and nuts with new. When I tension up the belt now it is solid and all the nuts snug up tight. The weather should be good this weekend so I'll get it out for a good drive and see if that fixed it. I should also be able to get some time to buff and wax the car too.
I tightened the driver's side mirror so hopefully it will no longer droop at speed. I have a couple more little things on my list that I should be able to wrap up tomorrow.
The plan is to get back to the Spitfire are well. First order of business is the Dynamat.
