Pretty chilly out today and some snow, a stark contrast to last year at this time where it was in the 50's. It is December after all, I suppose I should call it 'seasonal'.
I did get some progress today though. I prepared the locations where the T tabs would be welded by grinding off the remains of the old ones and getting a clean patch of metal to weld to. I used a fiberglass blanket and covered the entire rear of the car and left only the spot where I had to weld exposed. I welded the first tab into place. I had to experiment a little to get the settings right as the frame is pretty thick in this area. The welds weren't pretty but after some cleaning up, they look fine. I cleaned the area and got a coat of self etching primer on it.
I covered the engine and transmission as well as most of the front frame and only left the outrigger exposed. It worked great protecting everything from damage and sparks while I cleaned the area and got the second tab welded into place. That one worked a little better. I got it cleaned up and a coat of primer on it as well. I will wait for a warmer day to get the black coat on them. I can also touch up a couple of other spots while I'm at it. Forecast is for some warm weather on Monday and Tuesday.
A little progress for today. Time to do inside stuff I think, getting too cold for this outside work.
