Its been June or July of last year since I worked on the Herald. One high school graduation, one college graduation, two graduation parties, sending one off to college and work out of control has left little time for the fun stuff. With all that behind me its time to get back at it. My goal come hell or high water is to get this on the road for foreign car show on Fathers Day.
Yesterday I was able to complete the brake lines. All were run except the line running from the front distribution block to the rear distribution block. After that I mounted the exhaust that has been sitting in a box for months. Installed a few small pieces on the engine block to complete the day.
Earlier this week I stripped the vinyl off the rear seat side boards. They were warped beyond saving so I bought some 1/8" ABS to make new panel boards using the old ones at templates. One had a cigarette burn so I "repaired" it with a vinyl repair kit from 3M. It came out ok. The damage was just at where the seat and side board meet and about 3" from backrest so it won't be that visible. Hopefully it will be one of those "I know its there but nobody else will ever notice it" repair.
The goal for next week is to paint the engine compartment side shields and mount them along with the radiator and associated plumbing. I would like to test fire the engine before continuing on the bodywork.
