Making slow progress.... cut a panel and flanged the edge ... welded in the sunroof opening. The small rust issues were taken care of. Waiting for a little warmer weather before i roll it out side and shoot some self etching prime and then finish the body work.......did I mention I hate sanding.

Removed the tie rod ends.....took some heat to remove one. Paint on the new replacements is crap so I cleaned that off and gave them some new paint and set them aside for now.

Based on what I saw before I started I'm guessing somebody has been in it before....wrong nut and in the position seen. Wondering about the ring? after removing it appears it had a lot more threads in the housing it didn't reach. Any thoughts on that for when it goes back together?

I'm impressed.
I started with the engine and transmission. Body Suspension, and interior, next.

Thanks Larry....not much more that wrench turning at this point. I prefer to leave the engine as the last piece of the piece of the puzzle myself. At this point I need to work toward getting a rolling shell..preferably with paint. so I can move it out of the way as I expect this thing will be coming back to my place for final assembly sometime in the first part of March and my shop is full right now.

Nice job there, LaVerne. I just did most of what your doing to my 1981 TR8 automatic.
It was a long process, but I have, essentially, a new car. My car may have 89,000 miles, but it is tight and feels great.
You will be please at how well the TR responds to such care.
Keep us updated!

Wow, great job! I can only hope my GT 6 looks that nice, in about 3 months.
