Seems like I spend most of my time under the hood or on my back under the car!! Guess the carpet is a lower priority here...

Then you carpet the floor. grinning smiley

When you have a carpet in the garage it make finding dropped nuts and washers much easier since they don't bounce. I have taken to recycling the carpets from the house where they get another ten years of use before finally being thrown away.

It also stops tyres suffering from cold floors - we wouldn't want our 7's to feel the cold hot smiley

Whats next? A hardwood floor with a big Triumph laurel wreath inlayed? How about radiant heat in the garage floor? Actually, that sounds like a good idea.

Spent most of my life working on a surface like this or worse all four seasons. The old carpet from the house was going to get pitched anyway and helped the old bones on the hard floor. It went away a long time ago. Life's better with a lift.

Rich Truett,
After reading your post had I not already purchased the carpet from Auto Carpet I may have hesitated. Did you get carpet for the rear sill under the convertible top..I mean the carpet looks nice and I haven't started installing it yet but just by the looks of things I think I will do something better.

Hi Dave,

I installed the TST carpet, it did require some trimming of the edges, but overall I was happy. I didn't use the one piece the provided for the rear area, you really need six pieces, and that carpet is different than the floor carpet anyway. Here is the tread on my install: https://www.triumphexp.com/forum/tr7-and-tr8-forum.3/new-carpet.1546540/

Dave:

I also had to do some trimming, the floor section fits OK.
The carpet provided for rear area behind the seats is the same thickness as the floor carpet, not cut to shape very well and far, far too thick to be used with the fiberboard backing as per original.

Overall, I'd give the TST carpet set a C+
For the money, the value is OK. If you have the time and expertise to tailor it to fit, you can come away with a decent job. But it takes much work.

You can see some of it here. Note the MGF seats. Perfect for the TR8.

Richard
