Folks, I want to replace the front crank oil seal in the timing chain cover. I was about to remove the cover bolts when I noticed a threaded nut on the face of the cover, located between the TDC pointer and the front seal flange. The shop manual doesn’t mention this. What is this nut attached to? Does it also have to be removed when pulling the timing chain cover?

Thanks

Jim

The nut is attached to a pedestal (#5) which supports the timing chain cover. Needs to be removed to pull the cover.
