TRials 2024 And British Car Day

Location Bronte Park, Oakville, ON, Canada
Date September 13, 2024

British Car Day and 6-Pack TRials

Every year the 6-Pack Club of the Americas holds their annual get together called the TRials in a different geographic location. The 6-Pack Club includes owners of TR6, TR250 and GT6 automobiles.
Every year The Toronto Triumph Club hosts BCD, the largest British Car show in North America on the third Sunday of November in a Park outside the City of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Every fall season the trees of the Northeast change their colorings to their Autumn colors.
Every fall the grapes grown in Ontario, Western New York State and the Finger Lakes section of New York, ripen and are harvested.
If you’ve ever had a chance to make an extended road trip with fellow British car enthusiasts, you know that there is nothing like travelling with a group of like-minded people.
This year, 2024, we have engineered the ability to do all of the above. You can join us in Canada on the Saturday before BCD and get discounted hotel rates along the route as we will:
Day 1 Attend BCD (British Car Day)
Day 2 Travel from Oakville, Ontario through the “bench” area of Ontario (Ontario’s grape growing area), along Lake Ontario to Niagara-on-the-Lake (known for their beautiful downtown area, shops, and the Shaw Festival). We’ll then drive along the Niagara River past many nice homes and wineries to Niagara Falls, Ontario. We’ll drive by the three biggest Falls and then continue driving along the river to Fort Erie, Ontario. We’ll cross the border at the Peace Bridge and probably have our caravan filmed for Peace Bridge social media usage. We’ll travel back up the other side of the border to Niagara Falls, NY where we will stay at a Native American Casino and Hotel. You’ll have the opportunity to see the Niagara river rapids and Falls from the US side and also to see a fireworks display over the Falls at night. We’ll be led through the Canadian portion of this drive by Patrick Caria who drives a beautiful blue TR6, is a member of the TTC, and was previously a tour guide in this region of Canada.
Day 3 We’ll leave Niagara Falls in the morning and drive to Buffalo, NY. We’ll be led by Buffalo native Randy McPhee who is an active 6-Pack member and has both a TR6 and a Spitfire in his keeping.
Randy had this to offer about this section of our trip:
Welcome to Buffalo New York! Buffalo was a boom town at the turn of the last century and you will see the evidence of the city’s wealth and prestige. We will begin our driving tour of the city at the corner of Elmwood and Great Arrow avenues where you will see the intact manufacturing plant of the Pierce-Arrow Motor Car Company, and end it at the Pierce-Arrow Museum. This mark was a competitor to Rolls Royce and Packard, and considered by many to be superior to both. In between those two points you will see several examples of world renowned architecture, streetscapes, and Gilded Age mansions in the city that was once home to more millionaires per capita than any city in the world. All that, and a walk about the terminus of the Erie Canal!

Architecture
Did you know that Buffalo has more structures designed by Frank Lloyd Wright than any other city east of the Mississippi? We will see his most famous example of the prairie style at the Darwin Martin Complex. In fact, you will see six Frank Lloyd Wright structures on our drive.
Streetscapes
We will be driving some of Buffalo’s renowned scenic tree lined parkways, the site of the 1901 Pan American Exposition, and two locations significant in Theodore Roosevelt becoming the 26th President of the United States of America.
Gastronomic History
You probably know that what you call Buffalo Wings, (which are simply chicken wings when in Buffalo) were invented here. We will be stopping by the Anchor Bar to sample the football game staple at the birthplace of the wing!
We’ll leave Buffalo and travel through Westen New York to the Finger Lakes region and stay the night in Geneseo, NY.
Day 4 We’ll leave Geneseo and travel to Letchworth State Park. We’ll see more wine country, river, and waterfalls and have lunch at the Glen Iris Inn. Formerly the country estate of William Pryor Letchworth, the Glen Iris Inn has welcomed guests as a country inn since 1914. The Inn overlooks magnificent Middle Falls on the Genesee River and is surrounded by the beauty of Letchworth State Park. We’ll leave the park and travel to Corning, NY where we will stay through the following Sunday and the traditional TRials weekend events.
Day 5 There will be optional drives available to visit wineries, a distillery, the Glenn Curtis Museum (Aviation, Naval and Motorcycle history). We’ll have a TRials welcome reception at the host hotel in the evening.
Day 6 We’ll be travelling to Watkins Glen where you’ll have the opportunity to drive the original street-based racetrack and visit the Seneca Lodge (where Glen racers have traditionally stayed and drank). We will also have the chance to drive three laps of the entire NASCAR racetrack in our Triumphs.
Day 7 Our car show will be a part of the Corning, NY Gaffer District Harvest Festival in downtown Corning. After the show, we’ll have the opportunity to tour the Corning Glass Works. In the evening we will have our annual banquet and car show awards.
Day 8 Say goodbye until next year and head home.
We’ll be joined in our caravan by two YouTube Triumph celebrities: Dave Tushingham of the ChefTush network and Elin Yakov of the Rusty Beauties network.
