The pop-up ad at the top of the thread list just showed "Buy Red Diesel Today!"
This may be obscure in the US, but to explain, UK farmers may use fuel without the usual tax, much cheaper than the pump price.
It is illegal for it to be used for anything other than agriculture and few other public service purposes.
Abusers will have their vehicle seized and stored at their expense, until the fine is paid, be fined the cost of the unpaid tax on a full tank, and the cost of having the dye cleaned out.

So please ask the advertisers how they ensure that buyers are real farmers or other legitimate users.

We have the same situation here in the US. I haven't seen the pop up ad, though. Would a pop up ad be from a different source than the banner ads at the top of the page on this site?

I'm sure you're right, Joe!
The ads are inserted by "Google Ads", who of course, do no evil, but have you ever tried to contact Google?

It has never appeared again.
Perhaps it was taken down.
