Need help, can someone please confirm these measurements - i was under the impression that the pinion is on centre.

I bolted two straight bars to the wheel flange and measured inside to inside , I then measured inside of bars to centre of pinion flange. The measurements don’t add up .
Regardless I need to figure out my centre to wheel flanges.

I don't know the exact differences for a TR4A solid axle, but I can confirm the pinion shaft is slightly off-center. For TR2-TR4 though, the offset is only about 3/8" (meaning the measurements would differ by 3/4"winking smiley.

Brian,

I measured wheel flange to wheel flange on mine and got 49-5/16". Then I measured from the outside edge of the backing plates to the center of the pinion and got 23" on the left side and 22-3/4" on the right. Everything is snug but nothing is torqued to specs yet.

Hope that helps.

Brian

Something caught my eye on your shaft housings - nearer to the pumpkin where the shaft housing goes into the diff housing there are marks on the shaft housing . On mine one is right on the diff housing while the drivers side is as what yours is like, out about by 1/2”.

It looks as if the consistency of our british cars parts are off, I guess by the fellow who did or did not have his cup of tea when being made ...

I was able to pull out my old rear end and measure it - in the pick.

I would love to convert my TR6 to a solid rear axle and get rid of that clunky IRS.
