After seeing your arm, I can appreciate your problem. Maybe I was just lucky, having mine go smoothly. Not all of my projects went as well. It was 3 years ago when I installed my water pump. Just a kid then, 76 now. Your car is really nice. Congratulations.

Gary

it's always a good feeling to be working with clean, painted parts again.
Good work!

Chain and crowbar was used because I had no weight in the car to get the suspension off of the bump stop. I used a jack against the frame to pull down on the back to lift the a arm them I could removw the bump stop, then the shock, then use the internal spring comprssor(homemade) to compress the spring and drop the spring and lower pan.... quite the process

Yeah I want to get it as close to possible to the build sheet, not concours but just a good representation of how my father in law had it when it was new

Looks good JP. I have all suspension parts ready for paint and the frame ready to send out for media blasting. Any suggestions for media blasters in the Virginia area would be appreciated. I sent pictures to Hanover Powder Coating in Ashland, VA for a quote. I too am trying to maintain originality with one exception. Build sheet says Spa White, but I may go with Signal Red with a tan interior, which is not an official combination for a TR3b
Take care,

My frame is going to need some work, the suspension bump stops for the lower pan is rusted through and I went to add the stiffener kit by revington for the rear shocks...

got it. my tr2 has some damage resulting in a 4 degree off castor condition. for now its solved with a tr4 left trunnion on the right side, but will need a more permanent fix.

Very cool that it's a family car. My tr2 was my great uncles and was a time capsule of the car and his life. I found so many neat little things as I've built and rebuilt over the years. I found myself hurrying things along, so make sure to take the time to enjoy your journey.

As today is our 56th anniversary, and we took our 1960 TR3 on our honeymoon on June 18 1961, we thought it only proper that we go for a nice ride in our current 61 TR3. Had a beautiful 80 degree sunny day, and went and got a Dairy Queen. My wife's comment was, my god did our first TR ride this rough.

Great Kerry keep me in the loop. I am second guessing the powder coating thing but still have to work on some weak parts of the frame! I know I saw a kit by someone to strengthen the rear shocks mounts bit for the life of me I can't find it now. Any other frame upgrade recommendations please chime in. My bump stops where the hit the frame are showing holes so I have to figure that out and I am guessing it is 16 gauge metal. I have to rebuild the tube that holds the lower rebound on the frame under the shock. Here is the picture of how it looks right now. One more coat of clear on a couple of suspension parts and I can finish packing those up for a bit.

Happy Father's Day to all
