Hi
My dad has been storing a gear box in his garage for years for a friend - sadily his friend had now passed away - just wondering if anyone can help identify the model that it has come from

Could be; but I think having the switch on the side like that makes it for a later model. Perhaps TR6, but there were other cars that used nearly identical gearboxes (Dolomite Sprint, 2.5 PI, etc).

There should be some letters and numbers stamped on the housing near the clutch lever (rusty lever in the foreground of your photo). The two letters will identify what car it came from. For example, this one is from a 73 TR6

The number stamped on it will confirm it but based on the bell housing casting and the interlock switch, that's a later tr6 box, after 1970 at least.
