Last year I made a new dash and steering wheel using quarter sawn white oak. I'd like to make one or two more using different wood species. The limiting factor is finding old steering wheels to recover. If anyone has any old, beat up steering wheels for a 79-80 spitfire that they'd be willing to part with / sell please let me know. Thanks

Take a look at this one Jim. Fit's my 78. I'm pretty sure it will fit the steering column on 77 to 80 spitfires. It's 13.5 inches. The seams are splitting. Don't have the center piece. If you can use it send a PM.

Does anyone know what the "skeleton" of this wheel looks like? Some are aluminum and others look like rebar. The rebar versions are not too conducive to re-doing in wood.

Great price on Ebay item #112055321300 if you want less work. Does need an adapter though.

Thanks Mark but my interest is making my them myself. I'm a wood worker 1st and a car guy 2nd. I've already done this once and liked it so much that I want to do it again.

Got one I was gonna redo, but got a good price on one so I didn't end up making it. It's from a 71 spitfire mkiv. I removed the old rubber grip, and it measures a bit over 14 inches from the pic.
