Hi all, my 1980 7 has been fitted with a 3.8 v6/auto drivetrain out of a 99 Chevy Camaro and I've upgraded the front brakes with the Volvo/Escort system. The car is screaming fast but stopping is scary because the peddle fades almost to the floor before they grab. I've replaced the master and both rear wheel cylinders, bled the lines and even had a brake shop do them but nothing give me the feeling that I can stop fast. Help!

Tony:

I am not familiar with the front brake upgrade you describe. Is the original proportioning valve still in the system? If so, you should remove it and just fit a distribution block like the one available at the wedge shop.

If you have already removed the proportioning valve, you should consider replacing the OEM MC with the one from the 99 Camaro. Perhaps replacing the booster along with it.

Lots of advice here about brakes, eg from tr8todd.

I upgraded my front brakes using mini cooper rotors, accord v6 calipers, heftier springs, and a Taurus SHO M/C.
Mine stops OK now and doesn't dive too bad up front.

This winter Im doing the back though because its still sloppy.

My homepage links tell the tale. Happy to help by PM.
