Meanwhile, in another part of the forest:

I heard from a friend that my Vitesse and I had appeared in the legendary UK journal "Motorsport" (first published as the Brooklands Gazette in 1929!)
My vanity was inordinate and he tore out the pages and sent them to me.

You can read the report as well as I can, and see how my vanity was punctured.

The twilight race was an exciting first for me, and the same series is promised a Night Race next November!

John

Here are a pair of rebuilt/bushed Stromberg 150CDS carbs for my 1971 Triumph Vitesse Mk2. This era of carb were never bushed at the factory and after 50,000 miles the throttle spindles wear into the alloy body. This allows air leak & vacuum loss at idle & increased fuel consumption. The carb body has to be properly reamed out and then bushes fitted.

To Andy, can you advise where you purchase bushes. I have 150 CDS carbs, and would like to install bushes. Please remember I am in USA. so I can get tons of Mustang and Chevy Parts, but things like bushs for 150 cd carbs are not easy to find. Thank you.

Hi- I purchase my bushes from 'James Paddock Triumph' UK website & ream out the carb bodies myself.

Alternatively, there is a bloke in US called Joe Curto (New Jersey) who is an expert and had a website too. He will advise you by email too.

I had my Triumph out today & my carbs are very reliable now-but I've had to sort them & set them up myself (it can get expensive otherwise)

Good luck

Andy

I also have a fully restored/rebushed pair of 150CDS carbs available if you're interested. My email is brdlyandrew@aol.com if it helps you out.

Here's a close up photo of a Stromberg carb which has been fitted with a bushing/V-seal.

Regards
Andy
