Hey Skye! What is the green Number 25 car? It looks like a convertible version of an Italia?!?!

That #25 is the famous Triumph TRS driven to class victory by Mike Rothschild and Les Lester in the 1960 Lemans. It's also known as the Sabrina because of some unique engine details. I believe the Roadster Factory owns it now.

Mike was the father in law of renowned TR4 racer Mordy Dunst who coincidentally also carries the number 25. He's the red TR4 behind me at Phoenix in the pics above.

We ran into the car at Mid-Ohio raceway in 2002 and Mordy took a picture of the two cars together. You can find that pic on the GasketWorks website and I'll attempt to edit in a link later.

A few shots of my GT6. Bought from Steve Smith, shown above in his beautiful red #4 car. My car was yellow, as shown in the photo of us leaving Steve's place with it on the trailer. It's been completely rebuilt, and except for a slight propensity to punch holes in the side of the block, is a pretty neat racer.

Here a few shots of my Spitfire. A very fun car to race, much nicer handling than the GT6. It's only an 1147, so not much power... So far have raced with VARA, HSR West & SCCA. Podium finishes each time, with the most recent a win at Chuckwalla. smiling bouncing smiley

Some new and old Spitfire race pics. The old scans are from Limerock in the 70's. My current car, the #7 Red Spitfire is in a few of them.

63 Spitfire, oldest one still racing on the East Coast

Same car back in the day, driven by Dave Belden

The competition 1977, driven by I believe Allen Sadwin

A good time was had by all

I don't know the other cars in this picture, Limerock 1977 I've been told

Thanks Jim, your TR is pretty nice looking too - I'm surprised to see a passenger seat in a racer - do you take friends for rides on the track? All that extra drag and weight and it looks like you're leading the pack!

Clark,
At the moment it's the top DP car in Colorado and a top three/four car overall in small bore...until now.
Tomorrow I do the final flowbench on my new cylinder head which has been six months in the making.
It's street legal so I have an extra seat. It does have a lot of drag but I just make up for it with more horsepower
and some treachery thrown in. I'm taking it to Road America for the Kastner Cup in September & hoping to get 125 - 130mph
on the long straight. We shall see.
cheers,
jim g.

Jim, how much flow improvement did you find in the head? The guy that did my head (on the motor, that is...) found a good 20% improvement. My motor dynoed at 185hp at the flywheel, but boy did I burn through the $ to get there! I am adding the Kasner air horns (velocity stacks) to my twin 1.75 SUs this season to see if they really did give an extra 8HP on the 2L six.

I am finishing up a light weight fiberglass hood and a much more serious rear suspension redesign replacing the transverse leaf spring with a double wishbone, coil over set up.

I have been invited by Kas to bring my car out to RA in Sept for that event, despite all the non "vintage " mods... I will have to fit vintage legal tires, however. If the car is still in one piece at that time of the season, I just might go.

See you there.

Cheers, Clark
