British Car Day is just over five weeks away. Sunday 17th September 2017 will be here all too soon when we can all head down to Bronte Creek Provincial Park in Oakville for the 34th edition of BCD. The gates will open for show cars at 8 a.m.
Don’t delay! “Fast lane”, our BCD pre-registration, is available at http://torontotriumph.com/BCD/html/registration.html and will be open until 11th September. We have made it easier for you to register more than one vehicle … now you can register up to four cars and motorbikes at the same time. Our pricing at $15 per car is the same as it has been for many years despite escalating expenses. We will send you a window card via e-mail which you will need to display when entering the park. If you prefer to pay at the gate the cost remains at $20 and to save time on the day you can download the registration form (also on our web site), complete it and bring it along to the show.
If you plan to stay over on Saturday night, Oakville Tourism has negotiated some great pricing for Oakville hotels which are available on our web site at http://www.torontotriumph.com/suite/list/links.php?id=129 Call soon as rooms are going fast!
We have lots to keep you entertained at BCD including:
1,000 LBCs in one area – quite the sight – and you get to vote for your favourite cars.
The featured anniversary marques and models at British Car Day 2017 will be the Bristol 400 celebrating 70 years, Triumph TR3A celebrating 60 years, MGC celebrating 50 years and the Triumph TR5PI and Triumph TR250 both celebrating 50 years. This year’s electronic poster picturing these show cars is available at http://www.torontotriumph.com/suite/list/links.php?id=103. There will be a limited number of full-sized posters on sale at the Toronto Triumph Club tent for $5.
TVR is celebrating 70 years this year and in response the TVR Club of North America is hoping to attract 35 to 40 TVR cars to the show. They will be located in a special area just south of registration.
Another special display will be courtesy of Metrolinx who will be bringing a bus to the show. What an earth does a bus have to do with British Car Day you ask? Well, the Metrolinx – GO Transit Enviro 500 double-deck bus is manufactured by Alexander Dennis, Britain’s largest bus and coach manufacturer, who is now partially building British buses for the North American market here in Vaughan. Who would have guessed it!
The vendor area will house the usual fabulous array of over 40 British-related vendors offering their new and used goods for sale, including car parts, complete cars, t-shirts, hats, tools, books, supplies, and so on.
Great food is available from the many food vendors on site including Beaver Tails, British Baked Goods, Friends of Bronte (brewing Tim Horton’s coffee and selling Kettle Corn), Hot Diggidy Dog, Lions Club (2 locations on the field supplying burgers & hot dogs), Olympic Softee (ice cream) and Roll ‘n Baked Spudz.
Jan’s DJ will keep us entertained with suitable Brit. popular music.
The excellent glossy British Car Day programme will include a map of the BCD area, a history of our featured anniversary cars, interesting facts, a list of vendors and companies advertising a full range of classic car parts, products and services. The BCD Programme will be provided at no cost to all registered car owners. FAST LANE registrants will receive it at the main gate, "pay-on-the-day" British car owners will receive theirs when they register.
The water main construction on Burloak will still be in place for this year’s British Car Day. This means that northbound Burloak is down to one lane from Mainway to just south of the main park gate. We were able to address this issue last year by recommending that show cars arrive at the maintenance yard entrance via Appleby Line and Upper Middle Road – a short detour which avoided the traffic on Burloak. We are delighted to report that it worked, so it will be the same process for this year. In addition, please try and arrive between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. to miss spectator traffic. When leaving the Park use the maintenance yard exit and then turn right to get onto Upper Middle Road to avoid the construction. We will have 2 police officers directing traffic to make access and exiting the park as painless as possible.
Our sponsors this year are Exotic Motorworks, Crescent Oil, visit Oakville, Lant Insurance, Autoglym, Hagerty and Edward Jones Investments. A huge thank you to all our sponsors for their help in making British Car Day a success.
British Car Day is a rain or shine event and we hope that we continue the tradition with a brilliant warm sunny day as we experienced last year.
LARGEST BRITISH CAR DAY IN NORTH AMERICA!!!
