Thanks for all the responses regarding replacing both the steering lock and ignition switch.

I have the parts out and the replacement parts arrived from Moss Motor. The new ignition switch is a slight bit different from the original. The new part, from Moss has a 4 pin connector but the original connector has 5. The male pin at the top of the new part is missing.

Questions

1 - Has anyone used a 4 pin ignition switch to replace the original 5 - pin?
2 - Does anyone know what the function of the 5th pin (the single male pin at the top) is used for?

Thanks everyone

It sounds like you've purchased part 667-845 (https://mossmotors.com/switch-ignition-lucas?assoc=46109).
There is no wire for the ARV on this switch, but this can be ignored if you have removed that from your setup.

Thanks Derek

Is the ARV the anti run on value? I just purchased the car. I'm not sure if it's been removed. Do you know it's location?

Yes, that's what I was referring to. It's located on the bottom of the carbon canister, which is attached to the passenger side of the radiator. There are power and vacuum lines that run to its location; if it has been removed you may see the wires still there but capped off. This page http://trf.zeni.net/TR6bluebook/26.php and others in the Roadster Factory Blue Book will be of use to you, as will repair manual(s).
