Replica?

That would be my guess. Front suspension is just one giveaway (as is a VW engine in the back)!

That's not any 37 Mercedes I've ever seen. The 540 and 320 both has art deco sweeping front fenders. All other models were huge. Maybe some's idea of a replica type 37/90?

It's supposed to be a 1937 Mercedes Gazelle, they only made like 10 of them.
...and I'm 100% sure that's a VW based kit car.

Still neat though

That was a fairly popular VW kit car back in the 80's. And talk about confusing all "old convertibles", was selling a house with the TR3 in the garage. One of the prospective buyers thought my TR3 was this kit car. Was dumbfounded it was not a VW kit.

Now that I know what to look for (Thanks Gary) the 1929 Mercedes SSK Gazelle was made from 1929 to 1931 (40 total) as a race car for events like the Mille Miglia. It was the last car designed by Ferdinand Porsche for Mercedes. The kit car barely resembles it.

Here's the real deal Jaguar SS100 this kit is likely based upon.
