Scott, take off all the distributor wires, number them first and wrap the thing in a plastic bag.Tape off the back and front of the alternator. Tape the opening of the carbs and you should be good to go.You will get more response on the forum TR6 list.Wayne

The current engine degreasers are average at best, but better than nothing, I used Gunk brand. For the engine well, I used Formula 409 or Fantasik and some elbow grease. Just rinse after application. Recommend removing the battery and box to see how much rust is there and correct if necessary. Good idea to clean underneath, regardless and apply a bit of baking soda to neutralize any battery acid.Take your time and remove stuff to peel back the onion. Great chance to develop a future parts and project list.

thank you Wayne and Scott for your input. I'll likely make this my winter project for the TR6. I like the "parts and project" idea as. there's a lot of questionable looking vacuum lines that could be replaced as I go.

You are welcome, Scott. As you will find 45 yo rubber needs replacing. Do not forget the front and rear rubber seals under the bonnet (hood) and the wedges and cones that align the bonnet. Cheap and easy to do, but will improve looks.
